I have been sleeping on the floor for the past two weeks of a tiny farmer's cottage by the sea with three #cats as housemates. Just yesterday they brought me not one but two peace offerings of bird and mouse carcasses. Thoughtful little buggers but they made such the mess! How did I end up on the floor of this itty-bitty seaside cottage with such thoughtful roommates, you might ask? I'll tell you. Several years ago, after the pursuit of several advanced degrees at two of the most esteemed colleges in the world, I decided to go off-grid. For years, I struggled with 9-5 jobs and starving artist wages and realized if I was ever to be truly happy I had to throw everything I knew out the window and start from scratch – I was going to do things my way. I began a small #digitalmarketing business to avoid the stress of having to teach #music or play #gigs that annoyed me, I took my #guitar, and I left. Since then, I've been living in other peoples' houses, taking on their furry housemates while they are away, and living a life that I want to live - one with few material possessions, lots of fresh air, and endless musical inspiration. I live out of a small #travel-sized suitcase: I have 5 shirts and 3 pairs of pants. (These will do just fine for the next 6 months.) I make friends wherever I go and move every 6 weeks or so, returning often to the places and people that I meet throughout my travels. My only valued earthly possession is my guitar, which I have often referred to as "Zen" (after my grandfather). As it turns out, my life requires very little money, but I feel richer with each passing day. So why am I sleeping on the floor, you ask? Well... it's great for the back ;)
